The Best Cat Scratcher that Doubles as a Lounger! The Meowch.

January 3, 2021

If you are looking for a cat scratcher that screams sophistication and doubles as cat furniture, look no further!

My boys, Bentley and Avery, have been loving cardboard cat couches since the first time I found them back in 2015.

2 meowches

Now, my technical term is actually “meowches” because that sounds way cooler than cat couches.

Each meowch comes with a pack of catnip…which is guaranteed to make your kitty fall in love with the scratcher. Or just get really cat high.

The arms of the meowch and back are scratchable, as well as the actual portion that is meant for the kitty to lay on.

The corrugated cardboard material is a great consistency that helps keep your kitty’s claws in pristine condition! Not to mention it looks pretty neat in your house, too!

The Super Meowch

If your kitty is a bit bigger (both of my boys are 12 pounds and fit comfortably in one meowch) or if you simply want to give your cat more lounging space, you have two options.

One is to create a super meowch by combining two meowches. After the first time Nick and I did this, we never went back. The boys are obsessed with the super meowch.

Sometimes Avery uses it all to himself, as seen below. You can see how much they scratch the arms, this seems to be their favorite spot to scratch.

Super meowch Avery

And yes, this is a super meowch within a big box with another box for them to lay in it right beside it. #spoiledcats

The Lounger

Another option is to go with more of a lounger option. This cat lounger is great for kitties who like to sprawl out a little bit more.

Thanks to the kitties “auntie” Stace, a version such as the one pictured above came as a Christmas gift to the boys.

They adore the lounger but I wouldn’t say they prefer one over the other. The meowches still get just as much attention as the “meownger” now gets!

Important note: This lounger does not come with catnip. If you have some catnip, you can still sprinkle it in, though!

Out of all of the scratching posts and pads, these have been a true hit and they haven’t gotten tired of them, which is huge. If you’re a cat mom or cat dad, you know how big of a feat that is.

I’m so sorry to hear you lost your fur baby, Jolie! It is one of the hardest things since they truly are a part of the family. I still miss my one kitty Harbor who passed of renal failure in 2013…they really leave paw prints on your heart. Bentley and Avery are sending warm kitty vibes to you! <3

This seems like one of the more attractive and practical looking cat scratchers I’ve seen. It looks space-efficient rather than taking up a whole living room which I can appreciate!

You are 100% right, Hannah! It definitely fits in tight corners and spaces better than standard scratching posts!

Haha..this is the perfect gift for a cat! Love it. I wonder if it is very costly. I do have a cat and would love to give it to her except that she prefers to use rugs as scratch pads rather than actual scratch posts!

That is too funny that your cat prefers rugs!! Mine love boxes, too…sometimes they like the simple things in life. Lol!

This perfect timing, as we are contemplating getting a little kitty cat! I just have the need to have a furry addition to our family and we feel a cat is the right choice. Great info, that will help in our decision.

First of all, these cat scratchers are super cute and I am sure that every cat is going to fall in love with these. It is also a wonderful thing for the cat owners because they do not have to deal with the cats scratching couches or other items. Lovely post. Thanks for sharing
